I noticed that the back side of the linen has trace amounts of oil ground that has seeped through. Is that a cause for concern?

Thank you!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1925559605333281866.post-76602898372297488382019-05-05T10:33:32.769-06:002019-05-05T10:33:32.769-06:00Repairing a canvas can be tricky; a little bit of ...Repairing a canvas can be tricky; a little bit of water doesn't hurt. Obviously you don't want to soak it or apply heat, as that will change the chemistry of the RSG, but I've treated "sagging" with a slightly damp cloth applied to the back of the canvas and it worked great. A dent might be more difficult to fix though. I recommend following the FB group "Traditional Oil Painting" and asking author Virgil Elliot for his advice on this. He is the expert. :-)Anna Rose Bainhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16322593283981299235noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1925559605333281866.post-6907270620418657092019-04-27T13:18:07.823-06:002019-04-27T13:18:07.823-06:00I have a beautiful oil painting on a large linen c...I have a beautiful oil painting on a large linen canvas stretched and prepped with RSG. Movers crated it incorrectly and now there are 2 small dents in the canvas near the frame. Is there a way to repair these dents from the back? Everything online reads that spritz of water offers magical canvas cures but I'm wary to try it given the RSG. I appreciate your thoughts. Try putting another coat of rabbit skin glue, and if it's still sagging, you might need to use corner braces to tighten it on the stretcher bars.
